Photos of some of the different types of art I have created over the years. I tend to bounce around, and do one thing for awhile and then drop it and pick up something else. And then I go back to the first thing. As a result I have boxes and bins of beads, buttons, socks, fabrics, paints, glues, thread…
Paintings
A recent painting I did based on scene from one our favorite movies, My Neighbor Totoro by Hayoa Miyazaki. Instead of Satsuko and Mei, I put Sam and Emma playing gourds up on the branch of the camphor tree with the three totoros.
I studied Chinese brush painting for many years with Lucy Wang. A few of my paintings.
I made paintings from photos for some of my daughter’s teachers. I created stencils from photos and then spray painted in layers.
Fleece Pillow Creatures
I’ve made sock dolls for years (see below), but I’ve recently branched out into pillows with the help of my new $70 sewing machine from IKEA. A few first efforts: a sperm whale, a totoro (of course!) and a pigeon (which was supposed to be an owl, but the kids said it looks more like a pigeon.
Sock Dolls

Some of the sock dolls I’ve made. See my post “It’s Every Sock’s Dream to Become a Sock Doll” for more pics.

I made this doll for a school auction. I cut the head off of a pair of Perry slippers. You can’t have a Perry doll without a backstory! And yes, those are real screws in his head.
Misc projects

Little people I made from mini canvases. They hang on the wall. See my post “I Stole My Daughter’s Present and Made Art With It” for more details.

A rubbing I made from the kid’s foreign coin collection. See my post “Naked People on Coins and Other Fascinating Numismatic Discoveries for more on the coins…
